Scawby Gala Weekend 2013

The weekend started with a Treasure Hunt and we were delighted with the number of people who turned up and joined in. After searching for clues and trying to name the scarecrows everyone gathered at the Sutton Arms for a barbeque. We were entertained by Memphis Riders and it was a wonderful start to the weekend.

Saturday morning found us all enjoying homemade cakes and coffee at the village hall. Photos of all the scarecrows were displayed with a list of where to find them and there was an interesting display of old photographs from Miss Dickinson’s collection. The art display in the small room was moved to the Sutton Arms.

The gardens of Scawby Hall was a perfect setting for the afternoon picnic with Barnetby Silver Band to entertain us. The quiz sheets proved popular keeping people busy during the interval and we were kept busy serving strawberries & cream, drinks and ice creams.

The ceilidh in the evening was another run-away success, Major Kelly’s Ceilidh Band supplied the music, the Sutton Arms supplied a delicious pie and pea supper and everyone brought their own drinks.
