May 2017

Scawby Events Team is looking forward to seeing who everyone considers to be a Great Briton next month when the village scarecrows are displayed proudy for all to see. Our 5th annual Gala Weekend will take place on Friday 9th to Sunday 11th June and the scarecrows will be on parade from Thursday morning, an extra day just to make sure everyone gets a chance to see them all. A lot of hard work is involved in making a scarecrow and whether you can make something fantastic or something more modest your efforts will be appreciated by the whole village. New this year is a prize for the most creative wheelbarrow and the most attractive gate. Let's see what you can do!

We are not having a dance this year so on Friday night, weather permitting, we hope to see everyone walking around the village solving the clues for our very popular treasure hunt. The maps will be available from 4pm on Friday at both the post office and the pub. Please remember to hand in your completed treasure hunt map and your scarecrow quiz sheet at the Sutton Arms by 8pm on Saturday night for marking. The winners will be announced at the playing field on Sunday afternoon. All this information and lots more is on the programme which will be delivered to all homes in the parish on 8th May. It can also be downloaded from this site.

We hope to see everyone on Saturday morning for coffee at the village hall and then later at the Sutton Arms; enjoy the barbeque from 2pm and stay for an evening of live music and fun.

We are hoping the sun will shine on Sunday when we are at the playing field, we have a full programme of events from 12 noon through to 4pm. Look out for the Hurricane flypast.

A Charity Tractor run in aid of "LIVES" starts at Sturton Crossroads at 10am and finishes at Scawby Playing Field around 1pm.
