Gala Weekend 3rd to 5th June
It's less than two weeks to go to Scawby's 4th Gala Weekend, organised by Scawby Events Team, Trevor, Rosemary, Tracey, Jo, Hayley, Neil, Ryan, Sue and John. We are having a dance at the village hall on Friday night featuring The Sensational Soul Band and tickets are still available from Scawby Post Office. £12.50 which includes a choice of hot supper from the Sutton Arms and it's bring your own drinks.
There are also some tickets left for the vintage afternoon tea on Saturday afternoon; £7.50 includes sandwiches, homemade cakes and scones with jam and clotted cream and why not treat yourself to a glass of Prosecco? There will be musical entertainment from Natalie who is singing songs from the 40s and 60s plus popular songs from the musicals. Both these events are ticket only so get along to Scawby Post Office now, both these events are too good to miss.
35 scarecrows will be on display around the village and a trail map/quizsheet can be bought at Scawby Post Office for £1, you can vote for your favourite one as well as answering all the questions. The Treasure Hunt maps are on sale from 4pm on Friday and that's when the weekend really starts. The maps cost £4 and include 2 vouchers for burgers or hot dogs. The Sutton Arms party in the car park will be going on from 2pm on Saturday until late, there's to be an outside bar, bouncy castles, sports and lots more. This is when and where you redeem your treasure hunt vouchers for burgers or hot dogs.
The Fun Run starts at 10.30am on Sunday morning, it starts at Scawby Playing Field and finishes at the pub! Just turn up and join in. The Gala opens at 12noon, entrance fee is £2 adult and £1 child or a family ticket for £5. A free timetable of events will be available at the entrance. There really is something for everyone, please bring your dogs along for a fun dog show, there is also a display of dog obedience and agility. Classic cars, birds of prey, circus skills, a rodeo bull, pillow bash and bouncy castle. Music, games, food, beer tent, tea and cakes, ice creams and so much more.
