Scawby 3rd Gala Weekend

The weather forecast is for a couple more wet and windy days and with this in mind all the Scarecrow Makers have been contacted and asked to delay putting their scarecrows out until Wednesday morning. The weather is looking much better for the end of the week so let's hope we need sunscreen not raincoats and umbrellas for the weekend's open air activities. The Scarecrow Trail Map/Quizsheet will still be on sale from Monday 1st June.

The weekend starts at 4pm on Friday 5th June and this is when the Treasure Hunt Maps will be available from Sue & Bernard at the post office or the pub £4 per map this inludes two vouchers for homemade burgers from the Sutton Arms between 6pm and 8pm on Saturday. Completed Treasure Hunt maps and Scarecrow Trail quizsheets need to be handed in by 8pm on Saturday.

There are still some tickets left for the Dance and Hog Roast at the village hall. £12.50 (under 16s £10) MASH Entertainments. Bring your own drinks, tickets from Scawby Post Office, entry is by ticket only.

The village hall will look wonderful on Saturday afternoon, crisp white table linen and china cups and plates. Enjoy sandwiches and home-made cakes, scones with jam and clotted cream and perhaps treat yourself to a glass of fizz. Tickets are £5 and must be purchased by 2nd June, there are just a few left, entry by ticket only. Entertainment by Jopsox and Scunthorpe Musical Theatre, "Songs from the Shows"

Saturday night is the time to head for the Sutton Arms for a barbeque with live music from local rock band "Mr Stiff". Outside bar, bouncy castles.

The Sunday morning Fun Run is very popular, just turn up and join in, bring your dogs and push-chairs, run or walk but do join in. The Gala at Scawby Playing Field opens at 12noon. Entrance charge is £2 adults £1 child and a family ticket is £5. The people taking the money would be really grateful if you could have the correct change ready.
